Button, folded to, 20bb. 8-max tournament with a 1bb big blind ante. Pairs run down the diagonal, suited hands sit above it, offsuit below.

Facing an open on the button

When a seat before you has already raised, you need a stronger hand, and the earlier that raise came from, the stronger. Against an open from under the gun, the button shoves 6%, calls 17% and folds 77%. Each chart is for one open with everyone in between folded.

What happens behind you when you open

Your raise takes the pot uncontested about 10% of the time. Each seat behind you, when everyone before it has folded, answers like this.

At 20bb a re-raise is always all-in, so the choice is to call it or fold. The shares are of the hands you opened, not of every hand.

What these charts assume

  • Eight players, each with 20 big blinds.
  • Blinds of 0.5bb and 1bb, and the big blind posts a 1bb ante for the table.
  • Opens are to 2bb (3bb from the small blind) or all-in, and every re-raise is all-in. Only the small blind may limp.
  • Each chart is one line: a single raise, with every seat between it and you folded. Lines with callers and squeezes are in the trainer.
  • Chip EV. ICM is not modelled, so near the bubble or at a final table, play tighter.
  • Pots that see a flop are valued with a model built from postflop solves. No seat can gain more than 0.001bb a hand by playing differently.

Now play it

Knowing the chart is one thing. The trainer deals you these spots one hand at a time, on the button and everywhere else, and prices each answer in big blinds.
